Anti-Design Festival

Received some nice news today - my Rose project has been chosen to be part of Neville Brody’s Anti-Design festival, taking place between the 18th and 26th September in London.

My Growth Through Complexity project has been selected for LCC’s ‘Best Of’ show - an exhibition of work from across all 4 of LCC’s summer shows, selected by people in industry and the general public. What a compliment!

Super Graphics Site

24th June 6pm came and went, and with it, the successful launch of the Super Graphics site. All up and running. Pretty pleased with it - check it out: www.supergraphics2010.co.uk

Information Design Show

The Info show, which I curated along with Oliver Bothwell and Mark Simmonds, came together rather nicely.

It was quite a departure from previous years. We felt strongly that visitors should be able to interact, and view the work in close detail (rather than locking books away in cabinets), in addition to wanting to display work true to it’s original form (why make a poster of books spreads, when we could show the book itself?).

Live Feed

Despite suffering numerous technical difficulties, due to LCC’s internet connections, the Live Feed was a success.

12 computers were placed around the building - with one in each room/area of the show (including 3 outside in the shipping containers). The resulting images were then projected at the main reception to the building (in addition to being viewable on the Super Graphics website).

Time lapses to follow shortly.

Degree Show Time

The big day came and went, and all in all, was worth all the sleep deprived nights, and hard work (though I could most certainly do with a bit of sleep now!)

The show’s running until next Thursday (1st July) at the London College of Communication, Elephant & Castle - take a look if you get the chance.

More detailed posts to follow…

Hanging

With all the posters finally mounted and framed, it was time to hang - just as well, as the show starts tomorrow night!

With lots of thanks to Hamish, David & Martin for their help.

Demolition and Destruction

Spent all today blitzing the Information Design & Illustration studios, in preparation for painting to begin. Lots of thanks to everyone who came along and helped out.

Blurb

My Blurb book arrived today! I decided to take the plunge with print on demand and reprint my Growth Through Complexity book (after my previous experience with Lulu I must be mad). Although my hand-bound version was lovely, I felt it was lacking something (in particular a black cover). It really is lovely - just what I’d hoped for. Printing quality is pretty good—definitely better than Lulu. Just in time to be exhibited at our Super Graphics show next week.

Info-Tastic

I’m pretty excited about Information Design’s show, which I’m curating/organising (along with Mr Bothwell & Mr Simmonds). We have over 200 stunning frames kindly given to the course by the National Gallery. Thinking of framed filled walls, sketchbook stuffed cabinets, reading rooms and bean bags.
